Alexandra Claire McMurtry (born December 8th 1996) is a gymnast from Richmond Olympiad in Richmond, Virginia. She is a very accomplished gymnast as a 3-time Nastia Liukin Cup qualifier, 1 of which she has won. Alex is also a 2-time J.O. National Champion and a 7-time qualifier for the event. Following high school graduation in 2015, McMurtry will attend the University of Florida and is signed to their NCAA team. 

Competitive History[]

2009[]

McMurtry placed 2nd at her first Regionals. She advanced to Nationals finishing 5th. 

2010[]

Alex missed Virginia States in 2010. At Regionals, she came 1st. At Nationals, she finished 2nd and 1st on vault. 

2011[]

She won every single meet during the meet season and advanced to the Nastia Liukin Cup from the Excalibur Cup. At the Cup, she had an average day and finished 15th. She was crowned State and Regional Champion. Advancing to Nationals, she was crowned National Champion on all-around and on Vault and Floor with an impressive score of 9.950 on Vault. 

2012[]

McMurtry returned to the Nastia Liukin Cup after winning the Atlanta Crown Invitational. This time, Alex had a much better showing at the event and finished in second with 37.875. During championship season, Alex repeated her 2011 successes becoming State, Regional and National Champion. 

2013[]

After winning the Sand Dollar Whitlow Invitational, Alex qualified to her third Nastia Liukin Cup. 2013 was her year and she finally won the competition after storming to victory with a 38.450, the second highest score someone has posted to win the event. She came 2nd at both Regionals and Nationals. Alex was invited to the Elite Gym Massilia competition in Marseille, France with the Region 7 All-Stars team. She competed under FIG scoring and rules and finished 25th. 

2014[]

McMurtry didn't compete at any Nastia Liukin Cup qualifiers so didn't have a chance to qualify to the event. She was State Champion and later finished second at Region 7 Regionals, advancing to Nationals.
